Richard Mason Richard O. Mason is Carr P. Collins Professor of Management Information Sciences at the Edwin L. Cox of Business at Southern Methodist University, and Director, Cary Maguire Center for Ethics and Public Responsibility. He received his B.S. (1956) from Oregon State University in business and technology and his Ph.D. (1968) from the University of California, Berkeley, under the supervision of C. West Churchman. Dick's current areas of interest include the ethics of information, the history of information systems in organizations, the strategic use of information and the management of information and emerging technologies. Dick's academic publications have appeared in numerous business and management journals. His books include Planning and Designing Effective Web Sites (1998, with Sue Conger), Ethics of Information Management (1995, with F. Mason and M. Culnan), Waves of Chang (1995, with J. L. McKenney and D. C. Copeland), FrameBreak: The Radical Redesign of American Business (1994, with I.I. Mitoff), The Politics of the 1980 Census: Policy Amid Turbulence (1983, with I.I. Mitroff and V.P. Barabba), Strategic Management: A Methodological Approach (1994, with A. Rowe and K. Dickel), and Managing with Style (1987, with A. J. Rowe). Dick has consulted with numerous corporations, including General Motors, Hughes Aircraft, J.C. Penney, Kodak, the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Forest Service, Wells Fargo Bank, and Xerox. He is a member of the board of the Hopi Foundation and serves in an advisory capacity to Parkland Hospital, the City of Dallas, and the AAAS' "Project 2061--Education for a Changing Future" in San Antonio, Texas. |
